Frosty Day and a Ghostly Meowy Night

Today is another day in a row of days with sunshine and frigid nights.  Miss Opie pretty much claims the catio (cat + patio = catio) as her territory, and is always the first, when I wake up, to ask to go out and check the weather personally.  The temperature outside is 24 degrees F (- 4C) so I have no desire to open up the bedroom window, which is the entrance, and let all that cold air inside!  She sulks by another bedroom window, looking out.  When the sun appears, she is excited, as maybe she can go out now!  Sorry, Opie.  Maybe this afternoon you can go out.

Can I go out now:?

The sun is out.  Can I go out now?
Ghostly Visit

Did I get a visit from a ghost cat last night, or was it aliens?  About 1 in the morning, I heard this terrible cat yowling, along with the sound of running cats.  After a few more yowls, which are similar to the sound my cat Marigold makes, I started to stir.  Then I heard another loud cat noise close by.  It was the sound of greeting my late cat Peep, who died last January at the age of 16, would make every time he passed a human or a cat.  I have not heard that sound since he died.  It was unmistakable.  Did one of the other cats learn it, and after a year, decide to start making it?  As I got up to have a look, as that definitely got my attention, I heard this sound like electricity going through high tension wires.  I thought it might be in the house, but no, it sounded like it was coming from outside.  I went to the window to look out. The neighborhood was completely dark with a low lying ice fog near the ground, and twinkling stars above.  I listened hard, but did not hear anything.  I left the room to check the cat food, and check on the cats.  None were about, and the cat food did not need replenishing, so I went back to bed, thinking about Peep's greeting.  What was that buzzing noise?  Has one of the cats learned a new sound,  or did Peep stop by for a play and a visit?  I had a restless night thereafter.  I should have snapped some random photographs, but I did not think of it.  I shall keep my eyes and ears open!

  1. Oh, gosh, I'm voting that it was a visit from Peep! Sorry you had a restless night, but how exciting that your old friend may have stopped by to check in on you :)... Donna

    1. I am keeping my ears open, to hear if it is some other cat making Peep conversation. I will update this, if it is another cat.

  2. You need to build a cat door for the window, so they can go out whenever they want and the cold doesn't come in! I bet it was Peep. I miss him. Sometimes when I see Nahum I still think of Peep. Nahum's doing great, he's getting more cuddly and sweet everyday. Purrs to you. :)

    1. Whenever I see Nahum, or hear about his personality, I think he is just like the big Peep. They are very much alike in many ways.

    2. I do not think the house would be secure with a cat door in that window. I do not like them out whenever they like, but only when I like!

  3. Perfect piece of work you have done, this site is really cool with wonderful information. I will also build a cat door for our window, so they can go out whenever they want and the cold doesn't come in!
